Ah Mei Cafe

With intention to get Perry's 21st birthday gift, Jen & I met up at Ang Mo Kio Hub first to get some dinner at our favourite haunt : Ah Mei Cafe

Well, as innocently as "Ah Mei Cafe" may sound, it does not sell chinese food, as it's name suggest.
It is actually a very unsuspecting little cafe in the middle of Ang Mo Kio Hub then serves up darn good Nasi Briyani and Roti Prata.
I did not take picture of the prata that we ate. But trust me, you would not want to miss out on that crispy goodness that seems to be oil-free, unlike the other prata stall like RK eating house at Serangoon Gardens, or the Prata House at Thomson.

And another thing i love about this stall is that, it really brings back good memories. Dont mind me if i get a little emotional when talking about this food experience.

But everytime i go to Ang mo kio, it seems that i will naturally, or would be incline to choose to eat at Ah Mei Cafe, and specifically order the same thing each time.

It really does bring back some memories of my "uniform-clad" days, coming to eat Nasi briyani in our light blue uniforms, white shoes, tidily tucked in blouses, and neatly tied back hair. And of course, memories of the guys with their backpacks, still with their "pre-army haircut", their pre-maturity mindset, their funny "un-gentlemanliness" and whiny stories of their girlfriends. All with no modern worries of resume planning, module planning, or whatever that adults have to think of.

Oh the CJC (Catholic Junior College0 days, how i miss you very much.

My Favourite Girls
And of course, my two favourite punks in school

But of course, now that i go back to Ah Mei Cafe, the context changes, but the symbol still retains its significance for me.
That aside, the food is really really awesome stuff. So please do go try it! (:

Funny how a simple Nasi Briyani can bring back so much memories. hah.
