Oriole

Located very cosily at the outdoor areas of 313 Somerset, Oriole Cafe & Bar is supposedly really famous for its coffee because it seems they have award winning baristas and specially roasted coffee beans.

They also have a speciality called piccolo latte, which has long lists of technical definitions that i dont want to talk about.

Amidst a very dark setting, i squinted my eyes, frowned upon the menu, and here is what my friends and i ordered.

Cod Fish Pie
This dish i felt was the best, because it was novelty for us. Fish and pie? Cod fish and pie?
Never tried before.
But the pastry was crisp and light, not overly buttery. Filling was creamy with lovely surprising ingredient like asparagus and mushrooms with cream and cod fish.
But of course, i doubt i can say this if i hadnt shared it with others. I wouldnt have said that same if i had to finish that whole pie up.

Scallop Rissotto
Now this one was a bit of a neutral between my group of friends, since some liked it, some didnt. Not the best risotto ive tasted, but the ingredients are pure and fresh. Very simple classic dish. I LIKE. (:
I mean come on, look at those huge scallops!

Salmon Tagliatelle
It's sad how a few "Expensive" ingredients dumped into a dish can turn it into something of "high-value ($22)" something "up-class". Honestly speaking, this dish is extremely mediocre if not for the fish eggs and pesto as its embellishments. Dish was a little too creamy and pasta was a little overcooked.

Chicken Casserole
Very nicely spiced, but there was an overpowerful mask of olives and the overall was a little too salty. But nonetheless, the bread was toasted and seasoned to perfection. And all credits to that.

Affogato with honey comb!
I quite like this drink because it has a twist on your typical affogato. honey comb! Unfortunately, the shot of espresso was so minimal, i felt like i ordered vanilla ice cream with honey comb topping.
Overall dining experience: 4/5
Value for money: 3.5/5
Why do i feel a ned to rate this restaurant when this isnt even a food blog?
I guess i give mental ratings to my food all the time, something so inherent in me, i might as well put it to words as well.
Man i wish i could make a living simply by being a food connoisseur.
