ITS BEEN TOO LONG!

It's been way too long. i feel as if i havent beEn blogging about my food for so long, and then i realized, it was only since thursday. Just 2 days, and the amount of food i have ingested gets pretty intimidating!

THURSDAY

It was an impromptu meet up with clara and ariel and serangoon garden way, and immediately, i had this cravings for spinach wanton mee.
If you dont know, this noodles are the same as the normal yellow ones, they are merely green, and labelled as "spinach" but honestly speaking, i cant seem to taste any difference at all.
Something about the colour of it "green noodles" just sounds very deviant form the norm and thus becomes appealing it seems!

i rarely feel the need for dessert, as some people do, or routinely live by. But i seemed to be cravings for ice katchang that day. Must be the extremely hot weather. (Why am i always trying to find excuses for my food cravings? People always need justifications for that food indulgence dont you think?)
So here is Gula melaka Ice Katchang. Its amazing because i have never seen this, but whenever i buy ice katchang, i only ask for the gula melaka syrup and not the rest of the colour pink and green.
Sounds pretty contradictory to what i mentioned previously but in this case, colour has no appeal to me. But i do know some people who like to eat ice katchang because of its vibrant colours. (Seems to make them feel a sort of euphoria)

And of course, i couldnt help just taking a snap of one of my favourite bakery since i was there. But of course, i was too full to buy one for myself, albeit the temptation from the wafting smell of freshly baked bread!

FRIDAY

Friday was such a relaxing day. I took my time to complete some readings, then went out for lunch. The rest of the day was spent on shopping for ukeleles, exercising and karaoke.

I met Daryl and James at Lavender Food square to trying the famous wanton mee. If you havent heard, this stall has been acclaimed by many to be a "MUST-TRY", "SUPER-SHIOK", "ORGASMIC", whatever you term it. But you get the point.

So this is the store front, it is called Kok Kee Wanton noodles. Where you can spot two aunties (Singaporean definition) and an old uncle. All sulking and very mechanically preparing their noodles as if they were robots. Minimal expression.
I dont know if its the time of the day. (3pm; that is was a sleepy time of the afternoon), but its sad to see that they all look as if it was a drag to prepare my noodles!

The sauce was very special i must admit. Different from the usual black soya sauce or tomato ketchup. But i am very unhappy about my food because if you look closely at the picture below, how many pieces of wanton do you see?

2?

Just 2 wantons?!?!

So disappointing! I really dont understand why good food is always served in sure miser proportions. And i say this in analogy with gourmet dining in mind. (i.e LOBSTERS)
I never believe in buffets as well.
is there any restaurant out there that serves up extremely delightful dishes with reasonable portions? Hmmmmm. Im still thinking, very hard.

But nevertheless, the wanton was really really good. Next time, if you are not a noodle connoisseur, just go for the wanton soup.
(:

And finally! KOI again. ahahaha
